Minister of Education Leads Delegation to PolyU: Scolioscan® Radiation-free 3D Ultrasound Scoliosis Assessment Technology Draws Attention

On 13 August 2025, Mr Huai Jinpeng, Minister of Education, led a delegation to visit The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). The delegation held in-depth exchanges with PolyU’s leadership and researchers to learn about the university’s latest innovative research and outcomes, with particular attention to breakthroughs in medicine, healthcare and AI-enabled medical technologies.

Accompanied by Dr Lam Tai-fai (PolyU Council Chairman) and Prof Jin-Guang Teng (PolyU President), the delegation visited the AIR Lab (Artificial Intelligence & Robotics laboratory) at PolyU’s Industrial Centre. PolyU researchers demonstrated ten innovation projects in medicine, healthcare and artificial intelligence that span multiple areas of public concern and illustrate PolyU’s “medicine-engineering integration” research approach — using engineering to empower healthcare and innovatively address clinical needs.

Among the showcased projects, Scolioscan®, the radiation-free 3D ultrasound scoliosis assessment system attracted particular interest because of its importance to adolescent health.
